Multi-path clipping (AKA masking) is done as a preparation for color correction. For the outline, we mainly use the pen tool in Photoshop, which is the same as for clipping paths. But additionally, we separate each object and/or all main colors with whatever technique is most suitable. Your images are instantly ready for color adjustments, which is a great benefit if you have to adjust multiple images or many different areas/colors per image. Inaccurate color, color casts, overexposure, underexposure, and more can be corrected much quicker by using our masking service.
As standard, we will save all the selections as paths, since that keeps the image size small and therefore, download times short. However, we would recommend multi-path if the image amounts are rather large. If you want to have the masks saved as channels or layer masks please note this in your briefing and we will save them the way you want without any extra charge.
Sometimes selections with paths result in too hard of outlines. If this is the case, you can order Softmasking and tell us you want all masks matched to the sharpness of your image. We will mask the image with paths where useful, but all unsharp or too detailed parts will get alpha channel masking – the same as our Softclipping Service.
